The www was a much more intuitively obvious technological breakthrough than AI is now. My underage college roommates and I did our first internet purchase - wine - in early 1995. No id, no problem. It was the wild wild west and how sweet it tasted (except for the shipping fees).

On the other hand, I’m struggling to understand how AI will be as transformative. Maybe I’m too obtuse, but we will have to wait and see. We were promised drone delivery, hyperloops, self driving cars and the IoT. We got a chat bot in customer service that is overloading the grid instead.

Chris Locke is a name I haven't heard or read of anywhere in a long, long time- probably the last time I heard of him was around the time "Cluetrain Manifesto" first appeared around the time of the big market bust of 2000.
