I use chat gpt 4, you get 40 questions for 3 hours, which is more than I need. It really is significantly better than 3.5

You're underestimating the learning curve for non-technical people. I still don't get image generation AI at all - all my graphics use canva templates. And even for writing, it took a lot of tries before it became useful to me.

"AI’s demand for power in the U.S. could be five to six times the total amount needed in the future to charge America’s electric vehicles."

That's good to know. Seems like a "selling shovels in a gold rush" piece of info for potential AI investors.

I'm not so convinced being an early adopter is going to be of great benefit to me as an over 40 adult who wants to live outside and isn't interested in a digital existence. But I have been using a computer since I was 3 years old and I think you have probably convinced me I should buy this for my 10 and under kids to use and learn from. I am probably as optimistic about the long term disruptive potential of these tools. For those who are skeptical it is the synthesis of things Mollick is talking about that is the real incredible way towards the future, not just some chatbot. Last month someone already made one of Arnold's business ideas of an influencer creator a reality. https://archive.is/O8WzB

We’re going to have to talk about the GPTs on the pod. I’ve found them underwhelming to use. They don’t seem to learn. I’m sure this is temporary but frustrating.

Hanson used to throw some well-needed cold water on people claiming near term major impact of AI by saying we didn't see any sign of that in market signals of investment in chips, data centers, ultra-high bandwidth fiber, infrastructure, electricity generation, etc.

Yes, we still don't in terms of (currently) expected aggregate productivity or real growth, for now.

Yet, in what would have surprised most people even just a year or two ago, the AI-driven numbers for those others things are suddenly spiking and going to the moon, giant concrete box server farms are popping up like mushrooms. I suspect it's time for a Hansonian update.

So what do you advise for investment?

Nvidia? Already gone up, but perhaps like Apple, hardware peerless.

N.b., I was able to subscribe to GPT-4 this morning with no trouble.
