AK probably reads the NYT, but I do not unless an article is linked paywall-free.

Thus I only yesterday became aware of a strange “throwaway” animadversion on Israelis by Nicholas Kristof.

Strange because he is obviously an OG Third Worldist, but generally (I supposed, from glancing at him once or twice 20 years ago) in a namby-pamby, anecdotal way much like the way the network evening news used to wrap up with a “hopeful or heartwarming sob story”.

In other words the harm the man does is incalculable, but cloaked in a simplistic saccharine tone that makes him easy to overlook. Not really meant to be read by the intelligentsia, let alone discussed.

For the midwit book club ladies, mostly. Important subscribers to be sure.

So even though the paper very much has hewed to the line well described by Mansour, it was striking and unsettling to find that the editors of a paper at least until quite recently filled with Jewish staff and leadership, allowed in print a claim that was so much closer to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion than anything the far right nutters have come up with. The latter usually stick with “Jews have all the money and control Hollywood/rap music and Soros buys the lefty DAs and pays for migrants to come here”.

Unkind things to attach to an ethnic group, of course - but not quite so crude and fantastical as *stating* (with apparently no pondering of the physical possibility of the thing) that Israel teaches dogs to rape Arabs.

I wonder what Arnold makes of the Kristof piece in the Monday NYT.

Keeping in mind that the NYT is both the weathervane and leading winds of the Democratic party and third-worldism.

It seems to me that, even after the numerous blood libels published by the NYT the past 3 years, this one crosses a threshold from which it seems inconceivable to come back.
