Two upcoming Zoom events

Virginia Postrel and Allison Shrager

On July 18, Virginia Postrel will join us for a Zoom conversation. Back in the first Golden Age of Blogging, she was an early adopter, along with Glenn Reynolds and Brad DeLong. They influenced me. Her first book, The Future and its Enemies, introduced me to libertarianism and made me realize that I found that view congenial. More recently, she introduced me to Martin Gurri by pointing out that his then self-published book anticipated the Trump phenomenon.

On July 25, Allison Shrager will join us for a Zoom conversation. Among other things, she writes for City Journal, which is almost as prestigious as Substack (I kid). I think of her as speaking up for economic truths, which otherwise are rapidly disappearing from the public sphere.

Both conversations will start at 8 PM New York time. I will focus the conversations on how they navigate the Internet for information and how they see the information environment evolving. But you may bring up your own topics. The conversations are for paid subscribers. Links below.
