For Zoom events going forward, I am thinking of alternating among several types. Sometimes we might discuss a book. Sometimes we might discuss financial markets and the economy. Sometimes I might interview a guest. Sometimes I might review a topic from the past. And sometimes we might have a free-floating discussion.
Monday will be a topic from the past. Health care economics, which I explored in my 2006 book, Crisis of Abundance. Some of my catch-phrases continue to apply today, including insulation vs. insurance, premium medicine, Hansonian medicine, and the iron trilemma. Health care is also a classic example of what I later called government’s impulse to subsidize demand and restrict supply.
