Rewarding the use of Human Shields is a War Crime

UN officials and others are guilty

The Geneva Convention never anticipated Hamas.

Hamas fighters deliberately operate in the vicinity of the civilian population. They use Palestinian civilians as human shields. As I write this, they are discouraging civilians from fleeing a combat zone.

This places Israel in an impossible position. If they spare civilians, they hand Hamas a victory. If they bomb the area, they kill civilians. And if they demand that the civilians separate themselves from the fighters, the UN and other so-called guardians of international morality call such an Israeli demand a war crime.

The real war crime here is complaining about whatever Israel does to try to get at Hamas fighters. Those complaints reward the use of human shields. Such complaints make the tactic successful. The more successful it is, the more it will be used.

It will be a great day when UN officials and other self-proclaimed guardians of international morality are recognized as the real war criminals. They deserve to be put on trial.
